REPORT WRITING at Sampoerna Language Centre



OVERVIEW

This 30 hour course is designed for people who wish to improve their ability to correspond effectively in business English. The course emphasizes two skills:  writing and grammar usage needed to succeed both in work and in everyday life. Vocabulary is also an important focus of the course. Awareness of the international standard of business English writing skills will be put into practice at all times throughout the course. This is a full-time, hands-on computer writing course guided by an instructor.


GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of the course is that participants will be able to correspond effectively and practically in the international business world. This course also involves reading, listening as well as speaking.


EXAMPLE OF SUBJECT MATTER
- Structure, style and language of a business report.
- Introduction to word processing, PDF writing and printing documents.
- Cohesion: sequencing, generalizing, contrasting, rephrasing, etc.
- Paragraph structure Impersonal style: passive, compound nouns.
- Balanced style: ‘vague’ language
- Approximate and exact numbers.
- Writing numbers.
- Describing information in a chart/table.
- List of topic ideas for writing reports General and Outlining
- Organizing and expanding on given information: a report on negotiations or
  an investment report.
- More skills for effective Report Writing.
